10 Meter Radio has become more popular over the past few years as the price for the technology has dropped sharply. 10 meter radio enthusiast clubs such as Ten-Ten and 10m/6m span the globe. One of the more interesting things about 10 meter radios are how well they performs during heavy sunspot cycles. As 10 meter radio transmissions bounce off the ionosphere and extremely long distance communication becomes possible. In 2007 The FCC dropped the CW license requirement, which in turn allowed for greater access amongst 10 meter radio users

However it is a common misconception that 10 meter radio and cb radio are the same thing. 10 meter radio has become very popular amongst cb radio users as it offers greater power and updated technology. It is important to note that the 10 meter frequency is specifically set aside for ‘ham’ or amateur radio use. 10 meter radios operate on the 10 meter band on a frequency range between 28 MHz – 29.7 MHz as opposed to cb radio which operates on the 11 meter band. Operating a 10 meter radio does require a license from the FCC.
